he must have been hungry
For this project, you will be creating a composite inspired by the work of Guiseppe Archimboldo.
Archimboldo was a painter of the Royal Court of Italy during the Renaissance. Part of his job description included making hundreds of portraits of nobility. However, he is most famous for the style of portrait he created--the composite portrait.
Before you begin, you will need to do a little research. By the end of class Friday, March 22, 2013, you should have the following completed and posted to a new page on your WEEBLY site titled veggie face:
1. Research the work of Guiseppe Archimboldo. Find one of his paintings you love or hate. Post this and be sure to include the title.
2. Write at least 5 sentences summarizing any notable information about Archimboldo. Consider the following questions:
where/when was he born/did he work? who did he study with? what did he do? what type of painter is he?
3. Write at least 5 sentences DESCRIBING his work and YOUR OPINIONS. Consider the following questions:
what does it look like? what do you like/dislike about it? who do you think would appreciate this? what do you think he was trying to say?
On Monday, March 25, 2013 , we will begin to create our composite portraits. You will need one of these files:

You will also need to decide what you will use to composite a human portrait. This could be ANYTHING. Car parts, barbie dolls, clothes, sandwiches, machinery. ANYTHING besides a face. Think about using something for which you could find an abundance of images. How many DIFFERENT face parts could you really make out of books? This probably would not be a good choice. PLEASE CONSULT WITH ME BEFORE ATTEMPTING YOUR PORTRAIT.
We will talk in class about how to work this portrait. Your final Veggie Face is due by the end of class Wednesday April 10, 2013. The following rubric is how you will be graded:
/5 Posted on Veggie Face
/5 Top bar has related images
/10 titled image
/10 Related Objects
/10 Cohesive background
/20 No empty space/floating head
/30 detail in the muscles and features
/30 overall craftsmanship
